God did it. Like His Track Record, He kept His promise.
On God’s Big Day, the struggle for man’s allegiance will cease.
Christ’s murder on a cross and His victory over death was Satan’s defeat. Satan lost on a hill and at the door of an open tomb.
The outcome is sure. Satan lost the battle over death. He will experience eternal death along with all of his earthly disciples.
At Jesus’ resurrection, Satan began to lose ground. The great defeat started on a mountain called Calvary and will culminate in a pit called Hell.
Shortly after the disciples saw Jesus ascend to heaven, Satan lost another round at God’s first evangelistic crusade. The Holy Spirit of Jesus descended upon His disciples. Peter stood to preach to the multitudes packing the streets of Jerusalem.
At the end of the sermon, Satan took a setback as 3000 people requested baptism into the death and resurrection of Jesus, rising from the watery grave filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Three thousand people filled with the Holy Spirit began to spread peace, joy, love, and trust in God and His Son. As their numbers grew throughout history, each good deed moved Satan toward his eternal defeat.
I find it interesting to see Satan use hate, pain, loss, death, and destruction as his battle tactics. In stark contrast, God lines up His troops to defeats Satan’s kingdom with the fruits of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
In His Revelation, God calls all people from earth’s history—the dead and the living—to His heavenly court.
He has just one agenda item left prior to sitting down on the Judgment seat and picking up the golden gavel. With all of God’s purposes for earth complete, it will be time to give Satan a final blow. He must deal with Satan before opening the beautiful gates to the restored garden.
The Apostle John tells the church that at this time Satan will be bound and condemned forever as He throws the Devil into the lake of burning sulfur, – – -[to] be tormented day and night forever and ever. – Revelation 20:10
With Satan locked away for eternity, he will no longer be a threat to the new garden.
God will enter the chamber of judgment to begin eternity for all humankind. Those who desired to do life without God will receive their wish. Eternity will be forever in the presence of Satan.
Those who gave allegiance to Jesus while they lived on earth will live in the presence of God forever.
God did it. He kept His promise. Satan lost, and so did those who followed Satan’s ways over God’s ways. Moreover, it’s forever.
I want to spend my time on earth following Jesus. I want to be in the right line with the eternal winners.
Stay tuned. – Gary J. Sorrells
