GodReflection: God Enters the World in Jesus.
The earth rumbled in silence like a pre-volcanic rupture.
The greatest mystery of all history moved toward its climax. A mystery waited from deep within the Godhead.
This rupture—unlike Mt. Saint Helen that changed a landscape—would transform the entire earth.
God was about to make His advent onto the face of earth to live the life of His creation through the human eyes, feet, and hands of Jesus.
It was to be a change unique to all history. Humankind would come to know God through the eyes of Jesus while God would see the human race through His Son’s walk across the land of Israel.
God’s created children saw Jesus and a new view of the heart of God appeared. They learned of His love, compassion, peace, and joy.
To know God came at a cost.
God—the creator of humankind—through a mystery beyond my comprehension would feel the essence of what it is like to be human through the flesh of His Son.
Unlike a spectacular volcanic explosion, God’s entrance into our world through Jesus climaxed through the stories of Zechariah, Elizabeth, their prophet son John, Mary, and Joseph in a simple barn.
The God-man Jesus through his daily experience as a human encountered every hurt, disappointment, and victory that I might meet.
He totally understands me.
As Jesus’ life unfolds, He experiences crucifixion, conquers death, returns to the Father, and leaves His Spirit as my constant companion.
God left me enough prints that I accept the mystery of God’s advent upon earth through Jesus even though I can’t explain
it completely.
Here is what I think.
There is eternal value to trust a God who entered into the world through Jesus. It is my faith placed in Jesus that makes it possible to receive a glimpse of God’s heart.
Because Jesus provides a window into the heart of God, I know how to respond to be able to live on earth in peace with my maker.
Because God entered the world through Jesus, I know my eternal destiny. I will live in a new perfect body as a resident of the new earth with its new heaven.
That reality alone makes God’s advent into His world through Jesus a truth that merits my time in reflection. It not only merits reflection time—it merits my response as worship.
Stay tuned.
