GodReflection: Power Words

Called should invoke no less than deep gratitude.

There is mystery in the call. God’s invitation is open to all human kind.

How is it that the call of God is so available to me when millions of resident’s around the globe still wait to hear someone pronounce the word Jesus?

They haven’t heard his name. Less yet do they know of his gift.

Through a variety of circumstances and through people too numerous to cite I know the name Jesus and the good news that surrounds his grace.

I live as a member of the society called by God. I am a resident of the kingdom. I am a subject of the king. I belong to Jesus. I live among those who make up his church.

Why me?

Why was I called?

The answer remains beyond my ability to understand. The answer to my call hides in mystery.

How do I respond?

My first response is gratitude. How can I be anything but grateful to discover I am an object of His grace called to be His child?

My second response is one of commitment. Certainly, to be an object of God’s call invokes a response of deep commitment to God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Commitment is a word of power on its own right. I can’t fake commitment. Even outside of the realm of the holy non-commitment is easy to spot. I spent the past week with my wife as she went through spinal surgery. It was easy to recognize the commitment of the called from those lackadaisical workers who appeared on site to receive a paycheck.

A third response to the gift of God’s call is the attempt to live before others in a manner that portrays Jesus among us.

A fourth response to the call of God is the desire to do all within my power to share my good fortune with others and to invite them to join with me to receive the costliest of all gifts by acceptance of God’s call.

Shouldn’t the word “called” find its way to become a power word that guides my every decision?
