Craving God

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. – 1 Corinthians 2:10/ESV

You were created for good works, to produce fruit. We were created in Christ Jesus to produce the Fruit of the Spirit, the fruit of souls won for Heaven, the fruit of creativity and the fruit of manifesting what God is whispering into our individual souls through His First Word, the Bible.

The Road, Beams, Path, Forest, Nature

Some have called nature the second bible which points to God’s handiwork, His artwork. This includes us, His Most Beloved of all the Created beings, for in us He imprinted eternity, made a place for His Spirit to dwell that we might reflect His Glories through the spread of His Kingdom on earth.

In his book Whisper, Mark Batterson tells the story of evangelist John G Lake who lived in the early 20th century, who was a missionary to Africa. The story of how he got there is miraculous.

Lake is quoted in the book as saying, “I believe I was the hungriest man for God that ever lived.”1

Batterson continues, “It’s tough to judge a self-assessment, but I will say this: if you stay humble and stay hungry, there is nothing God cannot do in you or through you.”

And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams
– Acts 2:17/ESV

David Garrison, Executive Director of Global Gates and author of A Wind in the House of Islam wrote a piece for Newsweek online on June 28, 2019 entitled Why More Muslims Are Turning to Jesus / Opinion.

Morocco, Mosque, Architecture, Gallery

He chronicles a complex history several centuries removed from Christ of baptisms by Muslims into Christianity, both voluntary (most of which were) and involuntary movements. In conclusion of the article, Garrison notes, “Though dreams have fallen into disrepute in the West, they retain their currency in the House of Islam. A common phrase found in many testimonies gathered from West Africa to East Asia began with the words, ‘I had a dream…’ Like the wind itself, these dreams came as invisible harbingers of change.”

Over the centuries, God continues to woo man, and we see humanity craving God, sometimes groping in the dark, sometimes coming into His light. But make no mistake, it is God who is sending out His Truth comporting with Scripture, even to those who may not have the scriptures yet.

Not only are the young seeing visions and the elderly dreaming dreams, it may not look like it at times, but God is at work in families, businesses, the entertainment world and all manner of relationships and in governments through the cooperation of containing and conquering Covid-19.

I am drawing the following general conclusions from my own observation, reading and study over the years, and not necessarily from objective testing / research, though I’ve read much on the following subjects.

Painter, Paint Cans, Brush, Paintbrush

Some artists and entertainers may keep their faith under wraps, but their fruit is still producing good work. Though there is greed, there are also those managing money better than ever these days. Medicine may have its drawbacks, but it’s still the best historically. We have more ways to be connected to each other to minimize isolation and there is more media with which to spread the Good News of Jesus.

I am encouraged by those who are craving God these days, and the stories of those coming to Him. He is truly faithful in these wonderful, scary, beautiful, interesting and God-seeking days.

Amazing!

  1. It’s a privilege to be on the Earth in God’s Will at this time in His plans . It’s no less important to the Kingdom than Queen Esther’s. Great and mighty works of the Spirit are increasing and signs, wonders and miracles are manifesting the glory of God. Christian’s are breaking into things we’ve been told were too worldly like art, theater, Hollywood…How exciting!
