Gotcha! Or Got Ya…

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. -Psalm 91:1-6

I don’t know about you, but there have been times where words come to me. The words may be the same, but depending on the tone, it is either God or his adversary.

We may be doing life, having a memory or a conversation and hear “Gotcha!” out loud or in our spirits. Its tone is severe, pushing us into a corner. I don’t believe this is the voice of God, but of the accuser who stays busy oppressing humanity at so many turns, whether in success or failure. The object is to discourage, isolate and take out the beloved creation of man that God created.

Parent, Father, Holding, Carrying, Man

Then there are times where similar situations present themselves and the soothing words, “Got ya,” come in a reassuring way. It comes in the tone of Psalm 91, the image of God holding me closely no matter the situation, success or failure.

The spirit of God is gentle and comforting. He may raise his voice at times, but I believe it is only to save my life. It is not angry, boastful, prideful or counting my wrongs. It is faithful, it is hopeful, it is loving.

As his blood bought children, we are safe in His arms. No matter what, God’s got us.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. –John 10:28
