God is Real

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
    the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

-I Corinthians 1:18-25/NIV

Clef, Music, Love, Heart, Treble Clef

When I was in fouth grade, our school put on a Christian rock opera called Tell It Like It Is written by Kurt Kaiser and Ralph Carmachael. It was written in 1969 to help young people understand that God was relevant, even during the unsettling times of the 1960s. The most popular song was Pass It On. This song originally came from Tell It Like It Is.

I found out recently that Kurt Kaiser lived “up the road” in Waco, and the singers for the album Tell It Like It Is were from Waco. As a young girl, I listened to this album over and over. I was struck by the distinctive Southern accents as I thought the singers were from California where Ralph Carmichael lived. I also learned that Kurt Kaiser directed the Waco Symphony among other accomplishments, bridging the gap between God’s work and his connections in the world. Individuals who like Kurt Kaiser influence the world for God with great love to the world without compromise in a big way are amazing. He went to be with the Lord in 2018.*

God is wiser than any professor, intellectual or any minister, and His plan includes the redemption of all on this earth regardless of where they come from; poverty, riches, feeling lost, being on top of the world, ethnicity, experience, family of origin. And this God can change each person to the core that we might shine His light brighter to others.

This song became a standard at youth gatherings and camp devotionals, including our camp all the way in Brazil. It was still popular when I was in High school, college and grad school. I read recently that it was sung once at the Cotton Bowl.

Heart-Shape, Tree, Red, Outdoors

The power of the Real God rises above the wisdom of this age and touches the garments of God’s Love which trail from Heaven to let us know He Is indeed real. This message continues to be passed on in many ways and through people of all backgrounds.

Amazing!
