GodReflection: Share It Again
A few weeks ago, I began the God Reflection post with the observation that at my age the reality of Holy Presence seems to surface frequently in my mind. This morning, once again I find myself attracted anew by Holy Presence.
God’s Holy Presence takes place for those who trust God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in the ever-present arena of The Living Invisible.
As we prepare to enter the final quarter of 2023, it seems not much awareness of Holy Space exists in our world. For the most part, our world sees only one reality, that of physical presence. Those outside of Jesus lack recognition of Jesus’s Kingdom rule established with his resurrection. A rule where Jesus assures us, of his constant availability through his Living Invisible Presence.
In the first century just as in our twenty-first century, my guess is that Holy Space awareness between Cesar and sectarians of that time was not overly abundant either. We live in a time when the denial of Holy Living Invisible Presence comes with ease. We hear the holy name of God used frequently in a flippant manner to express delight, or as a “fill-in” word in daily conversation. Our culture uses His name in spaces not holy.
Weddings are often far more focused on the trivial than on entering the Holy Space of God where his Living Invisible Presence is invited into the marriage union. Our culture denies the existence of Holy Space with ease. The Living Invisible is real even though the world doesn’t see it. Like other traits of God, Holy only comes from Him. We experience the Holy as we draw close to Him.
It is misleading to think of Holy Space as limited to mountain brooks, ocean views, and
ecclesiastical architecture. A more accurate view might be—it is God’s world—he is in every space not ruled by Satan. He is The Invisible Present.
Holy space is ever-present. Since it only comes from God, I cannot create it. What I can do is make space available in my own life so that I will be more aware of the Holy. The Holy is always with me.
You may recognize from previous posts that over the last decade I have spent time in the writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He was a disciple of Jesus, executed by Adolph Hitler just three weeks prior to his own demise. Bonhoeffer reminds me that The Living Invisible Presence of Jesus makes Holy Space possible in a dark and filthy prison just as it is possible in the sunny meadows of the Rocky Mountains.
There are times when I recognize God’s presence in a situation. It may be when I hear his Word spoken from Scripture. It may be in a hospital room. It may be in a church plant. It may be in the ordinary routine of my day or night. There is every indication God is present and at work. He walks among us as The Living Invisible. That invisible space is Holy. I too want to step in and participate in God’s Living Invisible Space.
My task is to create awareness in my own spirit of the ever-present Holy. That alone will allow me to savor more of his presence all around me as I proceed toward the finish line. What are your reflections? Have you ever thought you could create Holy Space by your own actions? Has it ever occurred to you that Holy Space comes instead from God’s Holy Nature? He is The Living Invisible who is always present to guide our walk.
Next time I will explore how I can better arrange my own space to become more aware of the Holy Space that he offers through Life with The Living Invisible. I would love to hear your thoughts on how you experience life with the Living Invisible. Will you drop me a line?
Stay Tuned.
