God Matters

My life is a westward journey and I find myself much closer to earth’s sunset than the sunrise of my beginning years.

My formation was toward God.

At university, I studied Theology under outstanding scholars. Studies in Anthropology at a state university found me sitting under the tutorship of brilliant atheistic professors. I struggled to determine my own belief.

Did God matter? Was He real, or was I following a ruinous belief of my parents?

In my judgment, I saw talented state university professors tie theories to bone fragments with millions of years of missing pieces yet to discover. They could create an entire prehistoric man from one piece of bone and theorize as to his human or animal characteristics.

I decided my case for a creator God was stronger than the theory of no God at all. I would stake my life and my hope in His care. Life has been hard yet, I have not been disappointed. God does in fact matter.

God matters in theory and in practice. My philosophical side reasons if God is who He claims to be, then there will be a judgment and an eternity. It might not be a bad game plan to be ready.

My practical side experiences God as being real as rain. I make no claims of hearing audible intervention. Yet, in my six and a half decades of life, God’s presence seems more than coincidental.

If God is Creator—then God matters.

What are your reflections? Stay tuned.

    1. Yes, the technical aspect of multiple weekly posts is new for me. I am attempting to learn but would be dead in the water were it not for a skilled friend. – Gary
