The unity you demonstrate with the Son and the Holy Spirit is beyond my understanding. I believe you are one.
I am sorry that I do such a poor job in following Holy example.
With each passing year, I grow in my amazement of your love and steadfastness. You never give up with the likes of us who live on earth.
How great is your tolerance toward me. You cover my miserable efforts with the blanket of your Grace.
Here I am once again confessing the same sin as before. I don’t reflect enough of your likeness.
Forgive me for my unholy attempts to unseat you as judge. I still can’t seem to get over how easy it is to judge the hearts and actions of servants who are not mine. They belong to you.
You extend to me overwhelming grace. Why can’t I seem to extend even a seed of tolerant grace to others?
Help me to love all who follow Jesus. Open my eyes to see work done across the face of the earth by your servants and my Christian siblings who plant your seed of grace in receptive hearts.
Father God, May my life be an echo of unity expressed in the garden prayer of your Son:
“I pray also for those who will believe in [Jesus] through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in [Jesus] and [Jesus is] in you. May they also be [united in both Father and Son] so that the world may believe that you have sent [Jesus].”
Forgive me for replacing Truth with my truth. May I stop making the same mistake with such frequency. Forgive me when I mistake anything but Jesus as Truth worthy of worship.
Unite my heart with all hearts united with yours.
I pray through the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Eddison,
Thanks for your comment. Unity is like prejudice–about the time we think we are making progress sin raises its head and we see how far we are from a heart like Jesus.- Gary
