The Power of His

GodReflection: Power Words

They will be His people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. – Revelation 21:3

garyguarujaIt seems rather crazy to make the claim of relationship with the creator of the universe. To do so makes “His” a powerful word.

Sure, as a believer I recognize God as the owner of the universe. However, the power that guides my walk through my little corner of His universe is the recognition I belong to His family.

My earthly family is as common as sand. No royalty there. No fame. No Nobel Peace Prize.  No pro athletes. No leaders of nations. No rock stars.

Isn’t it strange how we have the draw to be in the company of the rich and famous? I admit my adrenalin percolated on those few occasions while my famous celebrity didn’t even know I was in the room. (I did have a 30-minute conversation one time with Dan Rather while standing in a breakfast line.)

God is different. He not only knows my name—He delights in my presence. I am Hishis5.

I’ll have to admit God’s delight in me is more than this little mind can comprehend.

I find it interest to see in my Bible where God needs only two pages in the beginning of Scripture to describe the perfect state of the two He created to be His. After their disobedience, the remainder of the 1094 pages tells the story of the length to which God is willing to go to restore what He created to be His again.

When I accepted the gift of His son Jesus God came to live in me. Scripture tells me His love is complete in me because I am His.

A gazillion years ago as a teenager, when I would leave the house my parents would always say, “Remember who you are.” I knew what they meant. While away from my parent’s house, I was to conduct myself in a way that would not shame the family and in a manner that wouldn’t harm me. I wish I could say I honored their request every time. I’m afraid that didn’t always happen.

Ok, here is what I think.

I believe the story–I am His.

I want to remember 24/7 whose I am. As a child of God—I am His.

powerwords3That makes “His” a power word of influence as to my conduct. I wish I could say I meet His expectations. I am afraid that doesn’t always happen. Nevertheless, He is God and I am His.  As my Father—God is ready to forgive. He knows I am a mere child at my attempt to obey and to grow into His likeness.

I stand amazed at the flow of power from the word “His” when it come to life navigation.

I look toward the day when “His” reaches its complete fullness and I hear Jesus proclaim, in a loud voice from the throne, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.”

I will still be His forever.

Stay tuned.
