Crucify Adam Not My Uniqueness

GodReflection: Power Words

garyguarujaI am as unique as my finger print—one of a kind. I stand as an original in God’s collection. There is no one on earth who is me—except for me.

A challenge I face is to sort through what is “Adam,” and what is me.

What is me came from God’s unique design. God is an artist—He doesn’t do assembly lines. I am one of a kind. He created me just as He envisioned for His purposes; to accomplish the assignments He sends my way.

crucify13So, here I am as I attempt to identify the gifted parts God placed in the creation of my soul—the me who will live through eternity.

Being Adam’s child, Satan attached to me greed, anger, selfishness—ok, I don’t need to list each ingredient of the sin paint he brushed on.

crucify9I am to submit to the Lordship of Jesus and use the power of His Spirit to clean up the sin paint.

I am to spend my life under the power of the Holy Spirit. Decision by decision I crucify my Adamic nature. With each nail placed into greed, anger, and selfishness; I resemble Jesus just a tad more.

I want to be clear. My Adamic nature is only baggage—it is not me.

Let me see if I can express what I judge to be the challenge.

crucify11Jesus told a story to help me understand gifts from God. He spoke of the master who gave five bags of gold to one, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability.

The task is to increase the investment. I am God’s gold.

My assignment is to use my life to multiply the gift. What God gave me is unique and precious. I am to be in growth mode to enhance the creative curious introvert He wired me to be.

I want to celebrate who I am—not nail His gifts to a cross.

crucify7I am to use my unique set of God-gifts to portray Jesus and make Him known to those who don’t have a clue as to His graciousness.

God’s plan for me is to reach the full glow of His creation.

Until then, I want to continue my quest to crucify Adam and to honor my uniqueness as a one-of-a-kind creation of God.

Stay tuned.

  1. Thank you Gary for a well-worded piece!

I would like to add another facet to this beautiful diamond’s truth by saying I love spotting uniqueness in others. To hold back that kind of love, in my understanding, is akin to cursing others. My Lord taught me to bless even my enemies and pray for them. How much more should I bless those who are calling upon His name. When someone is reaching out to me, even the smallest response of a listening ear, a genuine smile, a “thank you” or a “you can do it,” I believe, pleases the Lord. I can think of so many folks who blessed me in these ways, and other ways, at critical times — and still do!

    Blessings,
    Denise
