For when I am weak, then I am strong – II Corinthians 12:10b
A story circulated on the internet several years ago. Titled “Cracked Pots,” it told of a man who carried water in two clay pots. The pots were at either end of a pole balanced across his back. One pot was perfect and the other cracked. By the time the man reached his destination, the cracked pot had only half of its water.
After two years, the pot complained to the man about its inadequacy. The man replied to the pot that he planted the seeds on the side of the cracked pot’s path to be watered. When the cracked pot looked down, it saw a row of flowers.

Jesus calls his church to be filled with “cracked pots.” There are paradoxical blessings in the Kingdom of God.
As our Savior says, it is not the whole man who needs a doctor, but the sick (Matt. 9:12). In confessing our sickness, we begin to heal by the hand of the Great Physician. By becoming poor in spirit, we become rich in the Kingdom (Matt. 5:3). By praying in our closet, we become closer to God (Matt. 6:6). The smallest seed produces one of the largest trees in nature (Matt. 13:32). By becoming like children, we are closest to the heart of God (Matt. 18:4). It is in admitting our weaknesses, we become strong (II Cor. 12:10).

Can it be that when I allow my weaknesses to be used by God, that they can become blessings? It is good for me to look at my own path and see what the Savior has watered and give Him the Glory, for He is the Good Gardener, the tender of my soul, watering every seed along the way that I can behold His Glory in the beauty of flowers around me and in my heart.
