A friend of ours who studied film writing mentioned a formula he learned. Tell the audience the gist of the story at minute 10, begin a turnaround halfway through the film leading up to the climax which ties the story together.

Drinking in the beauty of the morning I imagined Adam and Eve walking in the garden in its splendor. I imagined light and lovely conversations.

Adam, these berries would go well with cashews.

Adam picks the berries, Why not walnuts?

Very well then, walnuts it is, said the Lord.

Each day brought new tiny and grand conversations and the couple walked in perfect harmony.

At “minute ten” of the garden, Adam and Eve were clothed and escorted out into a harsh world, but not without God leaving them with hope that one day things would turn around.

Paraphrasing God’s idea, I imagine in today’s vernacular something like this, My aim was connection with you, my beautiful humanity. But because you disobeyed me, I now have put in motion a plan for reconnection. You will have to wait for the day I come into full connection with you again. My Seed will come through woman and beat my adversary who will at most bruise my Seed’s heal.

The couple wept as they left. Yet, with each child born to the first couple, Eve remembered the LORD, and at that time people began to call on the name of the Lord (Genesis 4:25b)

Men grew towards God, then so far away God said in His heart, Except for the man Noah, I regret making humanity.

After the flood wiped out all but Noah’s family, history went in and out of love with God, through wars and adventures in search of how to connect with its Creator.

The word for religion seems to be obscure in its etymology, but from general and vague internet sources, its general meaning stems from reconnection to God.

Then Connection came in the form of Jesus, the sweetest name uttered on earth. He not only came to reconnect, but to teach us outer and inner connectivity.

Jesus understands our wiring better than anyone. He knows how we are formed. He also knows when we aren’t formed to the expectations of others, and vice versa. He completes what we cannot through many avenues, the consolation and guidance of Scripture, the hands and feet of Jesus through others, good medicine and therapies, nutrition and exercise that we may be whole beings. What sin broke down, God breaks into for His purposes.

God, the Great I AM cares about who you are, about who I am, especially during uncertain and difficult times. We can be the hands, feet, ears, mouths and hugs to others and in turn accept their Love. It’s this infilling of Love that pours out to others when they need it most. God is a giver and loves to give to His children that they may give to others, be it time, treasure or talent.
