GodReflection: Walking Into The Unknown.
A new season arrived on the calendar. Colorful blooms dress the trees. The dawn of each Spring Day brings with it a contrast of two opposite extremes—both packed with anticipation.
The fresh day brings with it the challenge of the unknown that will bless my life —some good and some bad. The good will be obvious and enjoyable. The bad will confront my degree of trust in The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, as it provides an opportunity to grow more into the likeness of Jesus.
In contrast to the dawn of a new day, I find myself closer than ever to the sunset of my life. As old age approaches eight decades, and body and mind fail; each day is a walk into the unknown to a degree more intense than I have yet to experience.
Common to the new Spring Day and to my life’s sunset, is the expectation of newness and excitement.
Yes, with the day comes new opportunities to encourage and befriend. But what has come to excite me is the great anticipation of what happens after my earth-life’s sun has set the final time. That’s the walk into the unknown I so eagerly anticipate.
God’s Holy Scripture tells me just enough to cause my enthusiastic anticipation. I learn that I’m not going to a heaven in the sky as I have been led to believe. Rather, in some way, God will cleanse and renew this earth where I now live and all will be good and perfect once again just as he enjoyed it after its original creation.
Never more will any evil, sickness, pain, or decay, be part of my life. I will have a new healthy body like I have never known. I will live with God’s people on this clean and perfect earth.
And best of all God will come down to our neighborhood to live among us. We will get to know God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Spirit in a more complete way than we can possibly imagine. What a Walk into The Unknown!
I must quickly add, being the finite humans we are, at this point on our walk across earth we have minimal comprehension of our Holy God.
Sure, Jesus came as a man to introduce us to God and show us his personal love and concern for every one of us. However, that can only be a minimal understanding of Creator God who is Father, Son, and Spirit.
I cannot possibly imagine the awe, the humbling, yet wonderfully amazing experience to be in the presence of Holy God when he descends to earth to be a resident among us. In our new bodies and our eternal reality, we will come to know him to a greater extent than we can possibly imagine on this side of eternity. What a Walk into The Unknown! Yes, that excites me to think with great anticipation of my Walk into The Unknown.
Over the next weeks as Spring blooms on my small piece of our globe I hope to reflect a new on my challenge to live by faith and perhaps for my first time reflect on such topics as, a new day—a new hill, the older the harder, my mountains aren’t your mountains, can’t wait for the end, and the best is yet to come.
I invite you to read over my shoulder as I attempt to look into my own soul and Take a Walk Into The Unknown.
Stay tuned.
