The Best Is Yet To Come

GodReflection: Walking Into The Unknown

I saw Heaven and earth new-created. Gone the first Heaven, gone the first earth, gone the sea. I saw Holy Jerusalem, new-created, descending resplendent out of Heaven, as ready for God as a bride for her husband.

I heard a voice thunder from the Throne:

“Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They’re his people, he’s, their God. He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone.”

The Enthroned Reigning King Jesus continued:

“Look! I’m making everything new. They’ll bring the glory and honor of the nations into the City. Nothing dirty or defiled will get into the City, and no one who defiles or deceives. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will get in” (Revelation 21:1-5 and 27).

“Yes, I’m on my way! I’ll be there soon! I’m bringing my payroll with me. I’ll pay all people in full for their life’s work. I’m A to Z, the First and the Final, Beginning and Conclusion” (Revelation 22:12-13).

The sixty-six books of God’s Holy Word have shared the story of God’s Eternal Rule and because we walk with Him within His Kingdom Rule, he tells us we can Walk Into the Unknown with confidence knowing that The Best Is Yet To Come.

Holy God The Father, Jesus The Son, and The Holy Spirit, begin the Bible with the Genesis’ account of the creation of earth and the creation of light. They end with the Revelation’s account of a recreated cleansed earth and the eternal light of God.

Doesn’t it excite you to think about the life we will have on the new earth. What an exchange! We will trade our old and deteriorated planet, for a brand new clean one that will never wear out again nor become polluted. The air will be clean and pristine.

No more plastic filled oceans. Garbage and landfills will all disappear. No more climate change. Toxic gases—all gone. Smoke and chemicals—history! No more anger and war. Our new earth will be a fresh zero milage model with no need for an odometer.

This brand new one, especially created for us, descends from Heaven exquisitely dressed for God; just like the perfect attire of a bride as she is gifted to her husband.

And then we hear the best news. “Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They’re his people, he’s their God”.

The Best Is Yet to Come!

Mr. Rogers’ neighborhood, as good as it was on television, God’s neighborhood will be better.  It will now be known as Holy God’s neighborhood. God will be my close visible neighbor. He will be the perfect neighbor. No complaints will come from my mouth or anyone else’s. Only praise and gratitude will flow. Not a blemish in the neighborhood, all sin is gone.

In a recreated environment free of sin—with the absence of death and pain—we will never have reason for tears. Anything and everything that causes crying and tears on this earth will be gone for good.

It sounds too good to be true. But it is true indeed. King Jesus leaves a final announcement to create one more spark of anticipation.

“Look! I’m making everything new. They’ll bring the glory and honor of the nations into the City”.

The mission Jesus has led since his resurrection will reach its climax. With his church he searched throughout every nation to find everyone whose heart is aligned with his. Now he’s found them and escorts them into his new creation, into his Holy City; Holy Jerusalem, new-created, descending resplendent out of Heaven, as ready for God as a bride for her husband.

He knows who they are—his cleansed holy people—His family, His children. Together, we along with all those Jesus searches for and has found are his glory.

They are the glory he escorts into the city. God has made us his elite as “Nothing dirty or defiled will get into the City, and no one who defiles or deceives. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will get in”.

Since The Holy is not bound by time or space I don’t have to wait long. Before I know it, I will hear his voice.

“Yes, I’m on my way! I’ll be there soon! I’m bringing my payroll with me. I’ll pay all people in full for their life’s work. I’m A to Z, the First and the Final, Beginning and Conclusion” (Revelation 22:12-13).

There is nothing to dread or fear. As children of God our Walk Into the Unknown is in fact made with confident steps in great anticipation, because we are sure The Best Is Yet To Come.

Stay tuned.
