GodReflection: A Word We Can Count On—Almighty.
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker (Psalms 95:6).
Humankind has searched the recesses of the mind for the vocabulary to adequately describe and address Creator God. God is greater than our vocabulary can express. Almighty Draws Spontaneous Worship.
At some point, I must stop and agree with Dietrich Bonheoffer’s essay on The Talk of
Human Limits, where he suggests there becomes a point where: “At the limits it seems better to me to remain silent and leave the unsolvable unsolved.”
It is not easy to describe the Eternal. One word that mirrors The Eternal is the word Almighty. It is A Word We Can Count On. Almighty is a BOLD word. When we think of ALL POWER we should I think of The Almighty. Supreme, absolute, eternal, and everlasting are within The Almighty gene. Almighty includes the ‘omni’ (always and forever) words of omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient.
Almighty include the divine words of Father, God, Holy, Lord, and Spirit. The Almighty is Maker and Creator. The Almighty IS.
It is difficult for The Almighty to be A Word We Can Count On in our lives without the combination of awareness and worship.
A great mystery of Scripture is God’s love for humankind. That love is beyond description. It flows from The Creator. God’s redemptive love for each individual person is the storyline of Scripture. His love cries out as an expression of His personal concern for every one of us. How He wants the whole world to receive His gift of grace.
The Almighty’s heart breaks when his free Holy Gift is rejected and the package remains unopened. He gave His son in a sacrifice of pain, suffering, and death on a cross of crucifixion in hopes that we would receive with gratitude and joy his gracious gift.
For reasons beyond human comprehension, God wants us to live with Him forever—beginning now. When the storyline of Holy Scripture weaves in the descriptors of The Almighty, A Word We Can Count On results in worship. Our worship flows from our increased awareness of The Almighty. How is it possible that God Almighty, who defies description, offers His sacrificial love to us! When this awareness stands in front and center in our hearts then worship directed toward The Almighty is an automatic response.
Yes, that is A Word We Can Count On—Almighty.
